Australian Solar Council Applauds Queensland Greens Solar Policy

Australian Solar Council Applauds Queensland Greens Solar Policy
The Australian Solar Council - the peak body for Australia's solar industry - has welcomed the Greens' solar policy for the Queensland election.

"The Queensland Greens understand solar saves money and creates jobs," said John Grimes, Chief Executive of the Australian Solar Council.

"The Greens are absolutely right to make a Fair Go for Solar a central plank of their Queensland election policy."

Don't bin thousands of solar jobs"The Newman and Abbott Governments have been directly responsible for the loss of thousands of solar jobs in Queensland. Their anti-solar agendas have locked Queensland families into ever spiralling power prices."

"It is absolutely right that solar families should receive the same amount for the power they produce from their solar panels as they have to pay for power from the electricity grid."

"The Greens have long been leaders in Queensland and across Australia in taking a strong approach to solar policy and climate change action."

The Fair Go for Solar policy also includes:

30 million for 60,000 low-interest loans to allow repayment for solar panels through Council rates;

40 million for 40,000 solar power and storage systems in social housing, low income households and charities;

100 million for solar research; and

a Renewable Energy Target of 90% by 2030.

"The Australian Solar Council calls on the Queensland Government and Opposition to announce strong solar solar policies that ensure the Sunshine State becomes the Solar State."
