CHICO, CALIF. - Alternative Energy Systems, Inc. (AES), northern California's premier solar energy provider is proud to have provided solar for CSUC's "BLITZ BUILD" FOR THE ANN AND EMMETT SKINNER TRANSITIONAL LIVING PROGRAM.
The duplexes are located at the corner of West 8th and Salem streets in Chico, California. A special DEDICATION CEREMONY WILL BE HELD THIS WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 18TH; 9:30A AT 745 SALEM STREET.
The Salvation Army's duplexes will house families transitioning out of rehabilitation. The mission was fueled by the 2014 CSU, CHICO ANNUAL WINTER COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT, which took over a year to plan and another to execute. The project was completed with the help of numerous community partners.
AES provided the labor on solar installation and permitting, and lead the processing of PG&E documentation for interconnection and the rebate. The panels will produce 20,000 kWh and save 3,200 annually for the 4 units. Co-founder, Tim Hamor "anticipates this will cover the majority of the [electrical] costs for these energy efficient units."
When asked why they choose to be a part of this project, Tim replied "We were approached by Jim O'Bannon who worked with us at the Boys and Girls Club and it seemed like a great idea." AES has a history of working with non-profit organizations. In 2012 AES worked with The Boys and Girls Clubs of the North Valley. The AES "Solar Pledge Program" for the club's Chico facility was boosted by a grant of 25,000 from PG&E, representing the largest single donation for a solar project north of Sacramento.
